Excessive oil consumption in a VW Golf 122 HP TSI (petrol) with DSG

In Feb-2013 (6 years ago) I bought a VW Golf 90 KW (122 PK) TSI (petrol) with DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox). I was always following the indications of the display for the maintenance and taking the car to the official VW car dealer for the maintenance, repairs, etc. I was noticing some abnormal oil consumption almost from the beginning because I have to fill some times oil in between scheduled maintenance. Last year oil consumption was reaching one liter every 1200 km (daily communting on the highway from Amsterdam to Noordwijk and back, thus one liter per 3 weeks with 80 km every working day, always the same). In October-2018 I had a strong argument with the VW car dealer because they said that it could be normal (the manual says that depending on the driving conditions oil consumption could be up to one liter every 2000km, but this should be a extreme case). In the VW car dealer they only offered me the option of weighting the oil to check the oil consumption at 1000 km, at my own expense (with a cost of 320 eur) which I wouldn’t mind to pay if it were going to solve anything. The way out they suggested is that I enter without a clear root cause (once again paying it myself) a long list of checks and potential repairs of the engine.  

The issue is getting worse because now the oil consumption is one liter every 800 km.
It is clear to me that there is a manufacturing problem in the engine or the maintenance was not done properly at the official VW car dealer (while I was paying for all of the requested ones). I did everything by the book (maintenance, proper/expensive oil, etc) and in an automatic car on the highway there is no way (I think) I could have damaged the engine. By the way the car was staying in the street during the night but there was never an external oil leakage.
How would you suggest to proceed?

I was considering paying at least for the oil weighting so there is a proof (I consider) from the VW car dealer of abnormal oil consumptiom. And then to bring this to the manufacturer (VW) in the hope that at least they share the costs of changing the engine (if this is the solution). For the rest the car is very convenient and I am happy with it.
It is obvious that the car has lost value since I bought it (probably to half or one third of the initial cost?) but now it is probably worthless in terms of market value because of this. I am planning to reduce the overall driving time, but still would like to use it from time to time, also for a medium distance trip, and it cannot be that I end up spending more in oil that in petrol.

You have an oil consumption problem with your 6 year old VW Golf. My answer on the described situation will be in Dutch. Hopefully you can have that translated into the desired language.

Het olieverbruik van inmiddels 1 liter op 800 km is buitensporig hoog. Ik weet niet wat de huidige kilometerstand is maar vermoedelijk niet zodanig hoog dat u mag verwachten dat hier sprake is van een gebruikelijke gevorderde slijtage als verklaring voor dit hoge verbruik. Feitelijk valt het verbruik ook ruim buiten de specificaties van de fabrikant en kan de conclusie niets anders zijn dat hier sprake is van een gebrek. De leverende partij, in dit geval wellicht de dealer waar u de auto heeft aangeschaft, kunt u hiervoor aansprakelijk stellen.

Wettelijke garantie
Indien een auto niet voldoet aan de redelijke verwachting op grond van de koopovereenkomst, dan is er sprake van non-conformiteit (art 7:17 BW). Het is duidelijk dat de auto ondeugdelijk is gelet op het extreem hoog olieverbruik. Factoren waarop de redelijke verwachting gebaseerd zijn, betreffen onder meer; de koopprijs, bouwjaar, kilometrage en de informatie van de verkoper.

Herstel door verkoper
Voor een beroep op conformiteit dient u terug te gaan naar uw leverancier (de verkoper). U dient deze in de gelegenheid te stellen het gebrek - binnen een redelijke termijn en zonder ernstige overlast voor u - te herstellen. De kosten voor herstel zijn voor rekening van de verkoper (art 7:21 lid 2 BW). Dat geldt ook voor de inmiddels in rekening gebrachte kosten voor het vaststellen van dit hoge verbruik middels oliewegingen.

Ontbinding koopovereenkomst
Wanneer de verkoper hieraan niet voldoet, of wanneer het gebrek telkens terugkeert, raad ik u aan de verkoper te sommeren het gebrek definitief te herstellen, bij gebreke waarvan u de reparatie elders laat uitvoeren op kosten van de verkoper, dan wel dat u over zal gaan tot ontbinding van de koopovereenkomst waarbij een gebruikersvergoeding kan gelden.
